This week is not like every other week, oh no. No matter what you have going on in your own life this week—whatever challenges you may be facing on a day-to-day basis—it’s going to be made slightly easier by the constant stream of photos of the Cambridge family—Kate, William, George, and Charlotte—we will be getting for these five days. Wait, why will I be seeing a constant stream of photos of them?, you might be asking. Say it with us, friends: It’s. Time. For. Another. Royal. Tour. Yes, the royal family will be spending the next five days traveling in Poland and Germany and making a veritable slew of appearances.
What’s in store for Kate, William, George, and Charlotte?
Photo ops!!! Charlotte and George were both included on the tour to Canada last year, but were somewhat limited in their number of appearances, given they were both quite young at the time. They are both still quite young, but we are going to hold out hope for an increased number of George and Charlotte sightings this week. And even if the children do not come out for many events, we should not fret, as, no matter what, you can be sure we will be seeing a whole lot of Kate outfits.
Formal attire. Imagine landing in a different country on a trip and immediately having to get ready to go to an extremely fancy dinner, to be attended by hundreds of people, that very night of your arrival? For Kate and William, this sort of scenario is pretty much standard practice. But nevertheless, we imagine they must be slightly stressed about having to attend a birthday party for the Queen, at which they will be one of 600 guests, on their very first night in Warsaw Monday night.
Lots of history. Kate and William will be visiting the Warsaw Rising Museum on Monday, as well as a former concentration camp on Tuesday, where they will meet five former prisoners of the camp.
Shakespeare. The Tuesday night schedule will conclude with a performance at Gdansk Shakespeare Theatre. We hope Kate and William take part in an impromptu scene from, like, Romeo and Juliet on stage. Or at the very least we hope they get pulled up on stage for some sort of awkward, immersive theater moment.
Political meetings. Kate and William will meet with Angela Merkel upon their arrival in Berlin on Tuesday. They will then see the Holocaust Museum, before attending another birthday party for the Queen Wednesday night. (There can never be too many birthday parties for the Queen, right? If anyone deserves that many, it is her.)
Some friendly competition. It’s something of a hallmark of a royal tour for Kate and William to compete at some sort of sporting endeavor against one another. (In New Zealand, they faced off on a dragon boat race, which Kate won.) On this tour, the couple will square off in a rowing competition. On their final day, though, they will share a boat ride without any sort of competitive elements—a romantic journey down the River Elbe.
A break for some Suits. On Wednesday night, the trip will come to a momentary pause for an outdoor screening of the latest episode of USA’s Suits (starring Prince Harry’s girlfriend, Meghan Markle, of course), in the center of the city. (O.K., O.K., this is just wishful thinking on our part, but how great would that be??!)
