The Late Show Auditions Trump and Friends to Voice Kermit the Frog

As the old voice actor for Kermit the Frog makes his exit, the part is up for grabs—and who better to take it than, say, someone who seems really ill-suited for the job they currently have? Thankfully, The Late Show was able to locate a few such people within Donald Trump’s administration. (And yes, that list includes the president himself.) And while the president and his buddies might be a little too busy to audition for the role, luckily, The Late Show has them covered.

In the CBS show’s cold open Wednesday night, Sean Spicer, Donald Trump, Jr., and Trump Sr. “auditioned” for the hallowed amphibious role. Suffice it to say that Spicer and Trump Jr. bombed, while the president’s audition almost went similarly sideways—until he tried out a new line. His prompt asked for him to say something that everyone will love. His response? “We need a new president fast.”

This isn’t the first time The Late Show has used Jim Henson’s beloved creations to spoof the Trump administration. Back in April, Colbert fired off a mash-up clip starring Spicer and the famous pink Snowths. (Think “manah manah,” but instead using the word “phenomenal.”)

Luckily, as with that video, this farcical audition is nothing more than another prank. Otherwise, we’d have to give Miss Piggy a ring and warn her not to get on her on-again, off-again boyfriend’s bad side—unless she wants to be on the receiving end of some very likely Twitter harassment.
