The superhero forces of Harlem and Hell’s Kitchen set aside old differences in this electrifying new trailer for The Defenders, Marvel and Netflix’s team-up series that’s set to arrive next week.
If you’ve been keeping pace with the studio’s small-screen offerings, you’ll know that that fantastic foursome is made up of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and the kid with the Iron Fist. That mantle belongs to Danny Rand (Finn Jones), who became the fourth and final member of the team back in March.
In fact, with the exception of Sigourney Weaver’s Alexandra, many of the characters set to appear in The Defenders have been plucked from those aforementioned standalone series, including Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple), Scott Glenn (Stick), Rachael Taylor (Trish “Hellcat” Walker), Elden Henson (Foggy), Eka Darville (Malcolm), Carrie-Anne Moss (Jeri Hogarth), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page) and Simone Missick (Misty Knight).
As for this new trailer, a lot this we’ve already seen, but there’s still enough in the way of fresh footage to please those eager for the show’s premiere next week. Kicking things off, we see the titular heroes reluctant to become a team as they sit down for dinner, before Stick walks in a delivers the bad news: “The war for New York is here.”
From there, it’s a barrage of action and quips, as the foursome comes together to defend the city against Sigourney Weaver’s Alexandra. Also of note is an awesome scene that will get Heroes for Hire fans excited, as we see Cage and Rand engage in a little teamwork.
In addition to all that, there’s also a new, and extremely brief clip which we’ve included down below. It’s not much, but we see a small exchange between Foggy and Luke, with the former offering his services.
The battle for New York begins when all eight episodes of The Defenders become available to stream on August 18th. Marvel and Netflix’s ensemble show will presumably be followed in quick succession (November, perhaps?) by The Punisher, before new seasons of Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Jessica Jones debut in 2018.
