According to People Magazine, TV’s original Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter, is ready and willing to make an appearance in inevitable follow up to this summer’s hit, the Wonder Woman film version starring Gal Gadot. In fact, Lynda said “we were trying to get me in the first one and we couldn’t make it work with our timing.” She’s already discussed a possible role in the “all but confirmed” sequel with director Patty Jenkins.
Confession time: I have the hots for Lynda Carter. I’m sometimes surprised to find myself identifying as a straight woman, because when I was a little girl, I fell in love with the most beautiful, magical, amazing woman in the world. When I read that Lynda’s going to get a piece of the Wonder Woman pie I just about plotzed.
But continuing on, this is great news for anybody who’s a fan of spectacular jugs. Lynda says this of Gal, Patty and the role that made her a star:
I was so taken with the both of them, and taken with Patty from the beginning when she very first got this film, and we talked on the phone. I just said that she knows who this character is. Because Wonder Woman — it’s the idea of her. It’s not about superpowers, it’s about her intellect and compassion. It’s so much more than some comic book character, because we identify with it.
It’s true, Wonder Woman is about more than superpowers. It’s also about that body-ody-ody. Lynda may have played a goddess on TV, but she is also a goddess in real life. I still get the vapors when I look at photos of her in that bustier and the boots. My cousin and I used to run around the house in our Wonder Woman underoos twirling, twirling, twirling until we made ourselves sick. Things got a bit unintentionally kinky when we, at age 7, would sneak into the closet and get the twine so we could tie each other up with our lassos of truth. It was exciting and empowering pretending to be Wonder Woman. Gal is no slump herself, but Lynda was my first, my last, my everything.
Here’s Lynda back in 1980, in her Post WW singing career, upstaging Kiss and sliding down a banana.
