Donald Trump’s morning tweetstorm criticizing the mayor of San Juan after she asked for better relief help from the U.S. was met with disdain and anger from the Twitterverse, many celebrities and government officials posting furious responses to the president’s words and telling him to stop tweeting and get back to work. It was even the last straw for arguably Hollywood’s nicest person, Lin-Manuel Miranda, who tweeted, “You’re going straight to hell, @realDonaldTrump.”
“She has been working 24/7. You have been GOLFING. You’re going straight to hell. Fastest golf cart you ever took,” Miranda posted as part of a tweetstorm of his own in response to the president’s statements. Trump posted a number of tweets Saturday morning, firing back against San Juan mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz, who, at a press conference Friday night, said that her citizens are being killed “with the inefficiency and the bureaucracy.”
And Miranda’s not the only one. Celebrities, pundits, and government officials alike posted calls for Trump to get over himself and help the U.S. territory rebuild.
Others, like Rosie Perez, also offered ways to help, by pointing their followers in the direction of giving efforts such as Tidal and New York governor Andrew Cuomo’s donation drive.
