Kevin Durant gave either a stone-faced look at Peyton Manning or a stellar acting performance at the former quarterback’s joke at the ESPYs.
Durant was reportedly in on the joke, which had Manning lambasting both him and Russell Westbrook while hosting the ESPN awards show Wednesday night.
“Our gymnastics team was so dominate that Kevin Durant told me he wants to play for them next year,” Manning quipped, a clear reference to Durant’s move to the Warriors.
KD seemed stupefied by the stunt, though ESPN’s Chris Haynes reported that Durant was acting. One hint in that direction is his mom, Wanda Durant, grinning big right next to him. (She’s not one to take a joke lightly if she thinks too harsh.)
With Haynes’ note in mind, it looks like Durant almost smiled while sitting stone-faced as the camera lingered — and was displayed for the whole audience at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
Manning wasn’t done.
“I gotta tell you, I don’t think you’d star for that team, Kevin,” Manning continued. “Russell Westbrook, what do you think?”

It’s tough to tell if Westbrook was also aware of the jabs.
He covered his mouth and stared over his glasses in reaction to Manning’s joke concerning him — almost like he was holding his own lips from yelling at Manning. Or from laughing with Manning. Maybe he worried about setting off a chain reaction that would ruin KD’s acting job.
