Marvel made a big splash yesterday at D23. The studio promised that they’d bring the goods and as expected, they delivered, showing off the first bit of footage from Joe and Anthony Russo’s Avengers: Infinity War. Unfortunately for those of us at home, they chose not to make it available online, but from the numerous reports pouring out of the convention, it sounds like the superhero extravaganza is going to be the movie to beat next year.
If you weren’t one of the lucky individuals who got to lay eyes on the trailer over the weekend, fear not, as it might be released to the general public sooner than you think. Or at least, that’s according to Joe Russo, who said at D23 that fans who weren’t at the convention will get to see the footage “soon.”
That’s all he would say, but speculation is now pointing towards a release at Comic-Con this coming weekend. The studio hasn’t confirmed that one way or another just yet, but we don’t have long to go now until we find out.
In related news, D23 also saw the debut of an awesome new poster for the film (which you can check out below). Exclusive to the event, it features the Mad Titan out of his armor and looking awfully angry, with his Infinity Gauntlet shining bright. Again, don’t expect to see this one being used in theatres or anything, but it’s a great piece of art and we’re jealous of all those who got to take home a copy from D23 this weekend.
Avengers: Infinity War has been scheduled for release on May 4th, 2018. There’s plenty to look forward to between now and then as well, what with both Thor: Ragnarok and Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther cramming up the pipeline, the latter of which has been compared to an “operatic family drama.”
Suffice it to say, it’s a good time to be a Marvel fan.
