After returning to Washington D.C. in the wake of a much publicized trip to Europe last week, the Trumps have already headed back, arriving in Paris earlier Thursday morning to celebrate Bastille Day with French president Emmanuel Macron. The Trumps left D.C. on Wednesday night, with Melania wearing casual flared pants and a matching blazer by Escada while Donald Trump chose a boxy navy suit and blue tie. She switched into a more tailored look, a red skirt suit and bright red heels, when they landed in Paris at 8:30 local time on Thursday, while President Trump was still noticeably in the same suit and tie.
Though they’ll never admit it, the Trumps may be hoping this latest international trip goes a bit more smoothly than the one last week to the G20 Summit in Hamburg. In addition to Donald Trump’s extended meeting with Vladimir Putin (where they both ignored an entrance by Melania Trump), Melania was forced to stay in her guesthouse in Hamburg for hours due to violent protests. The stakes are lower on this Parisian trip, however, with an itinerary including a visit to a children’s hospital, a stop at the U.S. ambassador’s house, Bastille Day celebrations, and dinner with Macron and his wife Brigitte.
While Donald Trump may (or should be) able to keep himself out of trouble on this trip, he might want to double check with his children just to be safe. Or maybe get some tips from Tiffany, whose own European excursions this summer have been going just fine.
